We took a poll and the consensus is in, being a food blogger can be overwhelming. No doubt about it. And feeling overwhelmed has a lot of bad things associated with it, like increased stress levels, decreased creativity, and higher than normal mindless cookie consumption. My latest guest, Kristen Doyle of the blog Dine and Dish, has something to say about this. In fact, she and I talk about the important issue of Finding Happiness as a Food Blogger. The result? We have good news – it is possible. Read on, my friends!

Today I’m talking all things happiness with food blogger, photographer, lifestyle writer and person extraordinaire, Kristen Doyle. You may know Kristen from her blog Dine and Dish where she talks about food, recipes, lifestyle, coffee, and happiness.

I read this quote recently that really got me thinking about the topic of happiness:

People tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will descend like fine weather if you’re fortunate. But happiness is the result of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly. — Elizabeth Gilbert

The idea of fighting for happiness may seem a little bizarre, but there is some truth to it. Kristen shared a story at the 2014 Chopped Conference that had us all in tears – it was an aha moment with a little bit of gripping fear involved. But it’s one that left a memorable impression on us all. Find ways to be happy each and every day. Spend time with family. Enjoy your life. Blogging can be all consuming if we let it, and so we have to fight to find the happiness we deserve.
